La Sabana Master Plan: Resilience, Connection, and Urban Life

In the heart of San José, La Sabana is more than a park. It’s a meeting place where thousands connect daily with nature, sports, culture, and community life.

Since 2022, Portafolio Inmobiliario has joined a network of allied companies and public institutions committed to improving the Parque Metropolitano La Sabana. We believe quality public spaces are essential to building more equitable and healthy cities.

The process began with two key diagnostics — one sociocultural and one focused on urban mobility. These studies, created with partner institutions and through 23 participatory sessions with diverse stakeholders, gave us first-hand insight into what La Sabana means to people and what it needs to thrive.

In June 2024, we signed a framework cooperation agreement with ICODER, sealing our commitment for the short and medium term. This agreement paves the way for co-financing stages of the improvement plan, ensuring coordinated action with other institutions.

Over the course of 2024, we co-created the La Sabana Master Plan — a roadmap guided by four design pillars:

Living Landscape

Continuous Learning

Intentional Activity

Integrated Connectivity

Together, these principles aim to make La Sabana a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient urban destination.

From our technical expertise, we contributed in infrastructure, sustainability, and urban planning, while actively participating in collaborative spaces with public, private, and community representatives.

By the end of the year, the conceptual design of the Master Plan was complete — defining priorities, phasing, and paving the way for schematic design in 2025.

At Portafolio Inmobiliario, we know urban transformation happens when people work together for a shared purpose. La Sabana is proof of what’s possible when people and the environment are placed at the center of the vision.
