The urgency of reducing the impact on the environment and communities, as well as the demands of new consumers, are driving construction with sustainability criteria even more strongly in the country.

These are homes and buildings that incorporate solutions to reduce the consumption of drinking water or electricity, and the generation of waste, and that, from the design to the execution of the works and their commissioning, maximize positive impacts on the communities and protect biodiversity.

A benchmark in this type of construction has been the Nueve84 Aleste residential apartment tower, a mixed-use Real Estate Portfolio project located in the eastern part of the country, whose first tower was completed almost three years ago and since mid-January 2022 The construction of its second stage began.

Nueve84 is the first residential building in the country to obtain the Edge certification, a voluntary type that accredits the most sustainable constructions with the quality seal of the IFC (International Finance Corporation integrated into the World Bank Group). This EDGE certification requires that the project have a savings percentage of at least 20% in energy consumption, water consumption and embodied energy in materials, compared to a local baseline.

“Nueve84 Aleste started in 2019 with a tower of 90 apartments so well valued that it is fully occupied. We are very proud to build projects with environmental sustainability criteria, with a responsible approach to the territory and the quality of life of the inhabitants. Nueve84 Aleste has a recycling program and a composting program, electric chargers, as well as the Edge certification that allows its residents to opt for green financing programs and a reduction in electricity and water consumption in their apartments”, said Federico Baltodano , Real Estate Portfolio Project Director.

Second Tower The second tower of the development will consist of seven floors and will have a total of 84 apartments in which residents will be able to enjoy more than 20 amenities and a hybrid lifestyle between the city and nature; with the facilities to be part of a more sustainable lifestyle, without sacrificing quality of life. Nueve84 Aleste is housed in Aleste, the Real Estate Portfolio mixed-use project that it develops in front of the SEK International School, in Guayabos de Curridabat. In 2021, Aleste was the first private company to receive the Ecological Blue Flag award in the biodiversity category, for its commitment to the conservation of native species and community participation. The Nueve84 Aleste development has an area of more than 26,446 m2, of which 9,923 m2 correspond to phase 2 that is currently being built and is expected to be completely ready for the arrival of its new tenants by the first quarter of next year. Buildings that are committed to sustainability, such as Nueve84 Aleste, preserve valuable natural resources and improve the quality of life of their tenants.
