Starting in the first quarter of 2022, Grecia de Alajuela will host an innovative “technology valley” of international stature located in the western region of Alajuela. The Costa Rica Green Valley project will come to house global high-tech and advanced manufacturing companies, employ the best human talent in the area, and create new opportunities for local businesses.

Conceived by the experienced developer Portafolio Inmobiliario, Costa Rica Green Valley stands in the middle of a 300-hectare site, which ensures enough space in case of future tenant expansions. For its first phase, it has had 120,000 square meters (m2) and an investment of $ 10 million just in infrastructure.

The wealth of human talent in western Alajuela and the project's privileged location have served as an anchor for multinationals such as Nitrile Gloves, which became the first confirmed client of the new business park. Last September, that company announced that it will invest in the construction of a 4,000 m2 plant for the manufacture of nitrile gloves in Costa Rica.

“The western region has talented professionals, a bilingual workforce and a privileged location as it is close to the Juan Santamaría International Airport (19km) and Puerto Caldera (61km). Likewise, it has interconnectivity and fluid access between the different cantons that make up the western region, which allows the staff to move very easily ”, commented Arnoldo Estrada, director of the project.

For the first phase, Costa Rica Green Valley will offer 95,000 m2 of industrial lots, in addition to amenities such as green areas, 24/7 security, bicycle lane, waste management, support for tenants in recruiting collaborators, sustainability committee and database of human talent, among others.

The work seeks to host global companies in strategic sectors for the country, such as advanced technology companies, manufacturing, services, etc.

“Costa Rica Green Valley intends to leave a mark on the community, attract foreign investment, activate job creation and promote local business chains. We consider that this region is perfect to fulfill this objective ”, stated Arnoldo Estrada.

Community relations in the West

The arrival of Costa Rica Green Valley to Greece and its neighboring cantons will be accompanied by a strategy to generate employment and business linkages that privilege local talent in an inclusive way. Likewise, the project will guarantee the protection of natural resources and native species, and will remain connected to the social needs of the communities that surround the project.

In Costa Rica Green Valley we visualize sustainability in an integral way and that is why we are developing a community relations strategy that includes factors such as employability, education, social, community, environment and reforestation, all under the premise of generating a positive impact. with the western region. Costa Rica Green Valley will become an important part of the country in the search for economic reactivation, increased investment and job creation.Arnoldo Estrada, Director of Costa Rica Green Valley

The work will directly impact cantons such as Alajuela, Poás, Grecia, Sarchí, Naranjo, Zarcero, Palmares, San Ramón, San Mateo, Río Cuarto and Atenas, whose local governments work together with the private sector to support and strengthen investments such as that of Costa Rica Green Valley.

Another of the fundamental axes of the project is technology. Costa Rica Green Valley was conceived under an innovative and differentiated model that contemplates the creation of the first technological corridor in the area, driven by the strongest fields of Foreign Direct Investment in the country. In addition, in the long term, the plan includes universities, technical training centers, a cluster of laboratories and all the support services for these activities located within the same business park.

And it is that the human talent of the Western region is one of the main factors that will make this growth possible. The area has prepared, bilingual, committed people with significant experience and industrial and service capabilities.

“A very high percentage of these people travel many miles to and from their workplaces every day. In Costa Rica Green Valley we intend to offer them employment options very close to their place of residence to provide them with quality of life ”, explains Arnoldo Estrada.
