C3 Cariari Corporate Center obtains LEED Silver certification in recognition of its sustainable approach

The renovated C3 Cariari Corporate Center shopping center, a project developed by Portafolio Inmobiliario and previously known as Real Cariari, has been awarded the prestigious LEED® Silver certification. This is a recognition granted by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), of international scope, which evaluates and distinguishes sustainable buildings based on environmental principles and efficiency in water and energy consumption.

“LEED certification is divided into eight categories that cover key aspects of sustainable construction, including integrative design, water and energy efficiency, indoor air quality and regional priorities. C3 Cariari Corporate Center has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to sustainability in each of these areas,” explained Roberto Argüello, Project Director, about the accreditation process.

A 25.8% saving in energy and a 46.83% reduction in internal water consumption have been achieved. These achievements were possible thanks to the implementation of strategies such as the use of high-efficiency LED lighting, the maximization of natural lighting through skylights, and intelligent lighting control with sensors and programming. In addition, water consumption for outdoor irrigation has been reduced through the use of native or adapted vegetation.

Waste management has also been a highlight, with 43% of material diverted from landfills. During the remodeling of the building, the reuse of existing infrastructure was emphasized, taking advantage of 88.5% of the walls, floors and ceilings, thus reducing the environmental impact associated with the extraction and disposal of construction materials.

Obtaining the LEED Silver certification in this building ratifies Portafolio Inmobiliario's commitment to sustainability and eco-efficiency in the construction industry.
