C3 Cariari Corporate Center, known as the old Real Cariari, invites muralists to a contest to intervene the east-north façade of this renovated complex located in Heredia, in front of the General Cañas highway.

The contest is developed by Real Estate Portfolio hand in hand with the cultural initiative Your City your Canvas.

And it seeks to encourage Costa Rican or international visual artists based in our country. The winning muralist or group of artists will receive a one-time prize of $7,500 as well as supporting materials for the mural.

“In Real Estate Portfolio we are proud to be pioneers in the country of global trends that seek to enhance commercial spaces.

“These are places that are decaying and transforming them into mixed-use projects with high quality standards. This is for the establishment of world-class offices, seeking to be catalysts that transform cities into urban spaces that provoke pride and belonging”, commented Alfredo Volio, executive director of Real Estate Portfolio.

“We want to involve the community, put this transformation process of C3 on the map, match the launch of the project with the launch of the mural,” said Arnoldo Estrada, Project Director of the C3 Cariari Corporate Center.

Your City: Your Canvas is a citizen initiative for cultural management and urban beautification.

Through an open call, in recent years it has allowed the intervention of high-visibility metropolitan spaces, with a curated and participatory selection, explained Mauricio Herrera Palma, Project Manager and Developer, San José Lab & Your City: Your Canvas.

The details of the contest

The call is open and visual artists, illustrators, graphic designers, architects, painters and space designers can participate.

But they can also make it public in general with interests in the intervention of the collective space.

The details of the proposal (model, digital representation to scale in PDF or JPG format or a high resolution photograph or scan of the PDF intervened by hand) will be evacuated by a qualifying jury.

Of the total number of works, 10 will be preselected. From this preselection, a Facebook album will be created.

Here the public will be able to be one more judge in the final qualifying panel made up of approximately 10 people.

Once the name of the winner or winners is known, the mural should be executed in March.
