Avenida Escazú receives certification as a carbon neutral complex

Avenida Escazú obtained the carbon neutral certification of the Country Climate Change program. This  certifies that the administrative and operational activities of a business contribute to good environmental management.

Johnny Jaikel, Project Director for Avenida Escazú, indicated that the complex's carbon neutrality corresponds to its climate resilience strategy.

This seeks to mitigate the generation of emissions and, at the same time, identify and select measures for adaptation to the effects of climate change. All of this is achieved by creating environmental awareness among employees and tenants of the complex.

Voluntary process since 2020

Avenida Escazú voluntarily underwent this process in August 2020. The certification was achieved after a long evaluation process.

“This achievement is the product of the effort of several years to control and monitor its sources of greenhouse gas emissions and projects to reduce them. Thanks to these projects, it was possible to reduce 8 tons of Co2 equivalent and we worked under the INTE B5 Standard ”, explained Jaikel.

"This certification fills us with pride and motivates us to continue building our vision, where we seek to be a benchmark in Latin America for our initiatives," he added.

Among the initiatives that have materialized are:

• 90% coverage of solar panels
• 100% of tanks with chlorination systems
• Equipment automation
• Comprehensive waste management system (composting organic waste)
• Efficient irrigation systems
• Sustainable mobility strategies
• Training programs
